Reid's return will also take the pressure of cocaptain Adam Goodes, who is struggling to find top form after a quad injury.
"He (Reid) is an important player in the forward structure of the team and will allow 'Goodsey' to do some other things in our forward line and midfield and gives us a bit more flexibility," Longmire said.
"It's an important position on the ground for him to play and even when he's not kicking goals he's really important in our forward structure and bringing the ball to ground.
