Youth spend an average of $103 weekly. That's about $175 billion a year. <br />Spirit of Youth honors businesses that know how valuable their youth customers are. With their Youth Friendly Business program, the Spirit of Youth Teen Action Council has been recognizing local businesses they consider "Youth Friendly." It is no easy feat to win this award. To be considered, businesses need to fall under the following criteria: <br />Treat youth customers with respect <br />Hire youth, encourage their school success, and prepare youth for future careers <br />Support community and school activities for youth <br />Up to date, 34 businesses have been dubbed "Youth Friendly," and among the most recent is The Bicycle Shop. To nominate a business or see a list of Youth Friendly businesses visit the Spirit of Youth Web site. <br />Nenana's First Gates Millennium Scholar Announced! <br />The NSLC Student Support Services Office is pleased to announce that one of our student residents and esteemed Nenana City Public School graduating seniors, Heidi Renee Kiunya (Kongiganak) has been certified as a 2008 Gates Millennium Scholars Program awardee. The American Indian Graduate Center (which administers the Gates Millennium Scholars competition for Native American students) certified Heidi's unprecedented distinction in a communiqu dated April 8, 2008. Heidi is forthwith to be recognized as a Gates Scholar duly commended for her "strong leadership,[url=http://www.xantrex.cc]cheap louis vuitton[/url], community service and academic achievements" further distinguishing her as a "Leader for America's Future." <br />As stated by Gates Millennium Scholars/AIGC Scholars Director, Sam Deloria, "the GMS program is more than a scholarship." She will be attending the University of Alaska Fairbanks this fall, majoring in Accounting. Heidi's awarding is emblematic of the Nenana City School District's commitment to academic excellence.
